Swan Lane Alley
51.744889, -2.215272
Today the alley swims with salmon
Under a sky-blue sea
as squint white crests
roll and ebb
over higgledy urchin-rust buildings
with bottle green seaweed
lining a silver-sand bed
I drift to Crete or Rhodes
paddle into the opal harbour
where shored boats glisten
a hight street mosaic
Today this is a coastal town
where terracotta bricked hulls
lead to kaleidoscopic hauls
my eyes smile wide as oysters
past this blue rose passage
How many have travelled
these timeless shallows
where time becomes Greek
as I weave these spring waters
store your pearl in my chest.
